On your first publication contract, beginning writers need to shelve their excitement long enough to really read the contract, consult with a lawyer/agent and ask a lot of questions. Don't assume you can't make or at least propose changes to their "template" contract. Sus out those things, like David suggests here, that the publisher is unlikely to ever do anything with -- and get them out of there. Great advice. Thank you.

BTW - I had NEVER thought about Theatre rights. Good one.
