and get your idea-popcorn popping

1. Interview an 80-year-old person about their life, how things have changed, and what they are most grateful for, and what they regret the most.

2. Look at pictures for inspiration. Look online or, better yet, go to an art gallery or museum.

3. Step outside your comfort zone. It’s important to try different things to stay fresh. Maybe usually write in first-person point of view, try third-person POV. Write fiction? Try a non-fiction how-to piece. By trying something new, you use different pathways in your brain, which will help strengthen your creativity muscle.

4. Look at other people’s work and ask yourself, “How could they have done it better?” Find that extra little detail, twist, or nuance that you can use to make your work better.

5. Write something completely different. If you’re stuck for ideas on what to write next, look at the content you’ve already created and write about something totally different this time. Your writing style will still be unique and fresh.
